Sadly our amazing Green Screen Studio and related facilities which were in the Hat Factory, Luton are no more.
After receiving huge public grants to renovate the building and others in the vicinity, Luton Culture Trust has chosen to deny us the opportunity to return at a rate we could afford, offering a final monthly rent of Five Times what we were paying. It was made clear to us the Green Screen was not what Luton Culture wanted in the building, and neither did it feature in their 'vision' of what people in Luton wanted or needed.
No compensation for our loss was offered, no relocation package. Sadly we have lost tens of thousands of Pounds we invested in the creation of the Studio and facilities. By default the Company itself has been forced to close, as we have no premises from which to operate our unique service.
Apart from our own personal losses, we also feel for the many Companies and Creatives in the region, and also those travelling from places far and wide to use what was a wonderful facility. We find it hard to fathom how a Charity whose states its purpose to support and foster Creatives, seems to have lost its way so strangely.
Finally we would like to say a huge thank you to all those Clients and Celebrities who have supported us in the past and sadly we will never see the future creations we would have made together. Once more Luton has been dealt a blow to its creative heart, with decisions made about our collective future by those we understand do not even live in or come from the town.
RIP - The Digital Media Factory and Studio 2 (Feb 2012 - May 2018)
